Kathryn T. Wissman, Ph.D.

Dr. Kathryn Wissman (she/her) is an Assistant Professor and a Faculty Member in the Discipline-Based Education Research (DBER) Program at North Dakota State University in Fargo, North Dakota. Dr. Wissman earned her Ph.D. from Kent State University in 2016.

Her research explores how to support student success and inform pedagogical instruction by examining best learning practices for inside and outside of the classroom. She has investigated which learning techniques facilitate the long-term maintenance of knowledge and why particular learning techniques help students remember information over extended periods of time. Her two domains of expertise include test-enhanced learning research and collaborative learning research.

Dr. Wissman actively supports the Scientist in Training podcast by graduate students at North Dakota State University. She also published research on the benefits of the tech tool Flip (aka FlipGrid) on student learning and classroom community.
