Alice S. N. Kim, Ph.D.

Dr. Alice Kim (she/her) is the Founder and Managing Director of Teaching and Learning Research In Action (TLR) and the Interim Assistant Program Head of Psychology at the University of Guelph-Humber in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She specializes in research on factors that influence students' learning trajectories, including student engagement and the application of cognitive learning principles in course design. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Toronto in 2013.

Dr. Kim’s TLR is a non-profit research organization focused on conducting and disseminating research on effective teaching and learning practices. She is a co-editor of The Canadian Journal for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.

Dr. Kim’s overarching goal is to help translate what we know about learning and memory to practical applications for the real world, and she serves as an advisor and consultant to organizations and working groups that are also working towards this goal.
