Althea Kaminske, Ph.D.

Dr. Althea (Bauernschmidt) Kaminske (she/her) is the Senior Director for Student Academic Achievement and Success at Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana. She specializes in research on spacing, neuromyths, and student study strategies. She earned her Ph.D. from Purdue University in 2013.

Before joining Indiana University, Dr. Kaminske co-founded the Center for Attention, Learning, and Memory at St. Bonaventure to conduct research on learning and provide professional development based on principles from the science of learning. She teaches Cognitive Psychology, Academic Skills, and Human Memory courses, and she writes books and blogs about the science of learning with The Learning Scientists.

She was featured in the Olean Times Herald and she is the author of two books, Five Teaching and Learning Myths Debunked: A Guide for Teachers and Ace That Test: A Student’s Guide to Learning Better.
