Vered Halamish, Ph.D.

Dr. Vered Halmish (she/her) is a Senior Lecturer at Bar-Ilan University in Ramat Gan, Israel, where she is the head of the Learning and Instruction Sciences program. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Haifa in 2009.

Dr. Halamish conducts research on memory and metacognition in both adults and children and how it can be applied to enhance educational practice. She examines learning strategies that make the learning process more difficult, but result in better learning outcomes, like using tests as learning events and spacing study sessions over time. She is also interested in the effect of motivation on learning, both extrinsic (e.g., external reward) and intrinsic (e.g., curiosity) motivation.
